CMT San Jose offers an exciting summer camp program with comprehensive theater training that promises to be engaging, challenging, and inspiring. CMT recognizes each child’s talent and gives him or her the necessary building blocks to grow as a performer. Sessions include classes in voice, acting, and dance, with cutting-edge workshops that culminate in a final performance for family and friends.

About Camp CMT

For ages 4+ in grades Pre-K through High School. No audition is necessary.

A Typical Day At Camp: Every day, campers rotate through core classes in voice, acting, and dance, along with an exciting array of workshops, including sketch comedy, stage crafts, and more!

A Performance To Remember: Throughout each session, campers work toward a final performance for family and friends. These performances are designed to showcase campers' talents and hard work. Final performances are held during regular camp hours on the last day of each camp session.

Never Have The Same Session Twice: Because of the many campers who attend more than one session, we make sure that each camp is a unique, fun, and exciting experience. Join us again for a second or third session and SAVE $100 OFF each additional registration!

We're Giving You Our Full Attention: Our classes are designed to provide campers with individual attention. All of our classes are staffed with instructors, camp counselors, and extra teacher assistants so the ratio of campers to teachers is no more than 13 to 1.

NEW for this year! We've made some exciting changes to help make our summer camp even more convenient for San Jose area families. We are now offering 4 great sessions in 2 locations, and all sessions start on a Monday and end on a Friday for a total of 10 days each.

Who can attend Camp CMT?

Kids aged 4 and up in grades Pre-K through high school may attend. No audition is necessary, and no theater experience is required for your child to have fun!

 

Tiny Tots: Entering Pre-Kindergarten through Kindergarten

(Ages 4 and up)

These stars-to-be will learn to explore their creativity through music, storytelling, movement, and arts and crafts. Both fun and educational, we have created our Tiny Tots program to provide a warm and nurturing environment, giving campers the opportunity to gain a wonderful introduction to the theatrical arts.

Junior Talents: Entering grades 1-3

What a great way to learn about the performing arts! This summer will catch these stars-in-the-making and teach them a new set of skills to match their always active imaginations! Discover hidden talents with our core classes in voice, dance, and acting, and discover new talents with the fun Junior Talent workshops.

 These four brand new scripts will result in lots of creative fun  for your Junior Talents this summer! "And Now.. The Weather" will have the kids "Singin' in the Rain" and "Walkin' on Sunshine".  In Session 2, they'll "Buckle Up" for a road trip on "Route 66" to "Oklahoma", "Santa Fe", and "New York, New York"! Life lessons such as "A Spoonful of Sugar", "The Bear Necessities", and "What a Wonderful World" are taught during session 3 in "All I Really Need to Know I Learned from Musicals". And finally, session 4 takes the Junior Talents on a whirlwind trip around the world; all they need is a "CMT Passport"!

Rising Stars: Entering grades 4-6

These rising stars are on their way to an exciting, challenging, and fun-filled summer! Do you have a pre-teen who is always the life of the party or the clown at the dinner table? Holding sold-out concerts in the basement? Do they love to sing and dance? CMT Summer Camp is the place to be. Satisfy all of their needs with core classes in voice, acting, and dance, and expand their horizons with fantastic Rising Star workshops.

This summer, our Rising Stars are looking to the future, remembering the past, and going to places found only in our imaginations! Session 1's "Pass the Popcorn" remembers our favorite movies with songs such as "The Rainbow Connection" and "Ghostbusters". We'll click our heels and wind up "Finding Oz", where we'll go "Off to See the Wizard" and "Ease on Down the Road".  In Session 3, we'll turn back the clock in "Welcome to the 60s!" with fun hits such as "Hound Dog", "Greased Lightening", and "Mama I'm a Big Girl Now".  Finally, in Session 4 the Rising Stars will look forward to life "When I Grow Up" and "Takin' Care of Business". Maybe they "Just Can't Wait to be King?" Join us this summer as we explore the world around us through musical theater!

Mainstage: Entering grades 7-12

Ready to hit the stage this summer? No stars shine brighter than those found in CMT's Mainstage program. Our fun and demanding summer curriculum is a perfect fit for those seeking to build upon and improve their musical theater talent, as well as for those just getting started! Our core classes in voice, acting, and dance help students gain confidence and skills in all three key disciplines. In addition to becoming well-rounded performers, these stars will also benefit from a variety of inspiring and entertaining workshops.

We're excited to announce four new scripts written just for Mainstagers. First off, our oldest campers will battle good and bad in "Heroes vs. Villains: Broadway Arena". Then, in Session 2 we'll remember our beloved Pixar stories in "You've Got a Friend in Me". Our favorite fairy tales will get their turn on the stage with a comedic spin in "Happily Every After, Abridged".  Finally, we'll bid adieu to our favorite TV singers with "Glee: The Final Countdown". See you this summer!

Extended Care

We know that life can get pretty busy, but have no worries. Green Room Extended Care is CMT-run childcare, offered as a convenience to you at the CMT Summer Camp site.

During early morning and late afternoon hours, campers will pick from a variety of activities. These might include outdoor games, indoor games, water fun days, arts and crafts, and viewing of G-rated movies. Campers can also choose to read quietly or talk with friends. Look for a schedule of activities in your welcome packet!

Drop in as needed or, if you plan to use Green Room every day, make sure to pre-register and you will receive a discounted price that can add up to a SAVINGS OF UP TO 35% OFF the hourly rate. Just look for the Green Room Add-On options when you register for a camp session.

Early Bird Registration - Get the lowest price of the season with our Early Bird Registration. For a limited time only, there are no penalties and no fees for cancellations or exchanges made before May 1. Don’t wait until it’s too late, register early and save! Early Bird Registration ends February 28th.

Multiple Sessions, Save $100 - We want you back! Join us for an additional session of Camp CMT and you’ll save $100 on each additional registration. Also good towards sibling registrations.

Same Low Prices On Extended Care - We know that families are busier than ever these days, so we want to make it easy for you to take advantage of our Green Room Extended Care. Register for any camp session and add-on one of three Green Room Extended Care options.

A Full Day Of Care For Tiny Tots - Same low rate! With our Tiny Tots Extended Care, your littlest ones (Pre-K through K) can join us for our regular half-day program and have the option to stay for a full day of care, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Cancellation Policy

Prior to May 1
Full refund, minus $25 processing fee (within first 60 days of purchase) ~or~ $50 processing fee (after 60 days of purchase). No fees or penalties for Early Bird registrations prior to May 1.

On or After May 1
Full refund on ALL orders (including Early Bird), minus $50 processing fee (within first 60 days of purchase) ~or~ $75 processing fee (after 60 days of purchase).

After Registration Deadlines
No refunds given after the registration deadlines. No exceptions.

 

Non-Sufficient Funds Penalty
Check payments written with non-sufficient funds will be subject to a $35 fee.

How to Cancel or Exchange

To request a cancellation or exchange, send an email to registration@cmtsj.org. Make sure to include the following:

  • The details of your request
  • Your reason for canceling/exchanging
  • The billing name
  • The billing email address
  • The order confirmation number
  • The performer's name
  • The program title
  • The program date and/or time
  • The age group you have registered for
