Miller Performance Scholarship
Through the generosity of the Miller family, CMT San Jose is honored to administer a total of five (5) financial scholarships to college students pursuing the performing arts.
Each year through 2019, one college-bound student performer will win a $20,000 scholarship, payable in a single lump sum. The winner must show proof of enrollment in a 4-year non-profit college or university, majoring in the arts.
The Miller Performance Scholarship is an audition-based award, offered to all students with a passion for pursuing a career in the performing arts who have demonstrated outstanding achievement in acting, dance or voice.
To qualify, applicants will be asked to submit the following materials:
Completed scholarship application
A 8x10 of the applicant
Please describe for us how you wish to further your education in the performing arts. Let us know what makes you stand out as a performer, your professional goals and aspirations, and why you’re applying for this award. (Not to exceed 500 words)
Please submit a video that showcases you as a performer (actor, singer, dancer, or combination)
Each applicant may submit up to 2 of the following videos:
32 bars up-tempo
32 bars ballad
90-second dramatic monologue
90-second comedic monologue
90-second solo dance performance
Videos should not exceed 3 minutes in length; videos must be in AVI or WMV format, minimum resolution 320x240..
2017 Application Timeline:
CMT staff and a scholarship panel of judges will review all applications submitted. Finalists may be asked to attend an in-person audition, from which one final winner will be chosen. The recipient of this year’s Miller Family Scholarship will be announced at CMT’s Preview Night scheduled on June 24, 2017.
