sound of music

November 14-23, 2014 • Our 47th season begins with the "hills are alive with the sound of music!"  In the summer of 2014, CMT San Jose presented Oklahoma!, the first production written by that acclaimed musical theater duo, Rodgers and Hammerstein.  In the fall of 2014, we present their final collaboration, The Sound of Music.

Mary Poppins

December 5-14, 2014 • Now in its 11th year, Marquee Productions presents one of the first regional productions of Mary Poppins! After 2,500 shows and six years on Broadway, Mary, Bert, and the Banks children make their Montgomery Theater debut. Staged by Artistic Director Kevin R. Hauge, this production will be a holiday treasure that the entire family can enjoy together.

Cabaret Night

January 31, 2015 • Mark your calendars and save the date for one of Silicon Valley’s best galas, as January 31, 2015 will be CMT San Jose’s Cabaret Night, benefiting the 47-year old theater company. The event, this year with a theme of “Heroes vs. Villains," will take place from 6 p.m. to midnight at the City National Civic.

School House Rock

Feb. 26 - March 1, 2015 • From 1973 to 1985, Saturday mornings on ABC made learning fun again. Through now-iconic cartoons and songs, School House Rock educated eager television viewers on math, history, grammar, science, and more. Join us at the Montgomery Theater for a slice of learning, served beside with a heaping share of childhood fun.

Jekyll

March 6-15, 2015 • A CMT San Jose favorite! Based on The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde by Robert Louis Stevenson, this lush, powerful musical tells the tale of a London doctor who, in a quest to cure his father’s illness, develops a potion that splits his personality in half. Two personalities, two women who love him, and one of the most dramatic showdowns in musical theater history; come see who survives in this thrilling Gothic tale.

Ragtime

April 17-26, 2015 • Based on the 1975 novel by E.L. Doctorow, Ragtime led all musicals in Tony nominations in 1998, surpassing even The Lion King.  The production is a dazzling sweep through history, featuring the likes of Henry Ford, Harry Houdini, and Booker T. WashingtoMarquee Productions is thrilled to welcome Ragtime back to the Montgomery Theater stage, making it the first-ever revisited Marquee title!

Mulan

April 30-May 3, 2015 • Based on the Chinese legend of Hua Mulan, as well as the 1998 Disney film of the same name, Mulan, Jr. tells the tale of a brave Chinese warrior who battles the Huns, rescues an emperor, and just happens to be a female in disguise. Mulan, Jr. is a thrilling adventure and a comical romp, as well as a touching celebration of family and culture.

Into the Woods

May 8-17, 2015 • A fairy tale mashup! Stephen Sondheim (music/lyrics) and James Lapine (book) turn the Brothers Grimm upside down, shake the stories around, crash characters into one another, and dare to ask the question: “What happens after Happily Ever After?”

Millie

July 10-19, 2015 • A Rising Stars premiere! This 2002 Tony Award winner for Best Musical propelled Sutton Foster to stardom, and, in the summer of 2015, will launch Montgomery Theater audiences right onto their feet. Make sure you learn the “secret knock” to get into Thoroughly Modern Millie.

American Idiot

July 24 - Aug. 2, 2015 • Based on the Grammy Award winner for Best Rock Album in 2005, Green Day’s American Idiot explores youth, love, and loss in an age of media saturation. Like CMT’s previous successes with The Who’s Tommy, Rent, and Jesus Christ Superstar, this production, directed by Kevin R. Hauge, will be a visual and sonic experience. It is not to be missed.

Pinocchio

August 6-9, 2015 • A Junior Talents classic! Based on the book by Carlo Collodi, this vibrant musical follows Pinocchio, an “almost real boy,” and his father, Geppetto. Let’s hope that our final show of CMT’s 47th season ends with Pinocchio’s dearest wish coming true!
