Middle school, ugh. It’s the worst. But Greg is determined not to be at the bottom of the popularity chart. He’ll leave that to his weird neighbor, Fregley. Or maybe Greg’s best friend, Rowley Jefferson. But it’s not going to be Greg…no way.
Jeff Kinney’s popular character takes center stage as Greg’s cartoon diary becomes a hilarious and heartfelt musical. Will Greg’s plans to become popular lead him to sacrifice his one true friend? Can anyone avoid the dreaded Cheese Touch? Grab a hall pass and don’t be late for an adventure familiar to anyone who actually survived middle school.
Breanna van Gastel
Bio
Bre is thrilled to be working with the talented cast of Diary of a Wimpy Kid: the Musical! Breanna has her Master of Arts degree in Education from Santa Clara University and is currently a Transitional Kindergarten teacher with the Santa Clara Unified School District. She has been teaching and choreographing for over 20 years and has worked on many productions including Rock of Ages Teen Edition, The Lion King Jr., Junie B. Jones Jr., The Big One Oh! Jr., Sound of Music, Into the Woods Jr., and Aladdin Jr. Breanna enjoys performing in CMT’s Marquee productions such as Beautiful: The Carole King Musical, Something Rotten, Mary Poppins, White Christmas, Matilda, Beauty and the Beast, and Mamma Mia. Other credits include Grease, West Side Story, Rock of Ages, Peter Pan, Curtains, Chicago, The Nutcracker, Swan Lake and The Sleeping Beauty. When she’s not working on stage, Breanna loves to travel or spend time with her husband and dogs.
Kristen Dabu
Bio
Kristen Dabu is a vocal coach, recording artist, and performer who dreams of sharing her passion with her students. She has been training for 20 years under the mentorship of Seth Riggs Speech Level Singing International experts, and now teaches at her personal studio, Faith Music Studio.
Kristen has been passionate about performing in theatre ever since she was 13. She has acquired some of her dream roles such as Belle (Beauty and the Beast), Eponine (Les Misérables), Maria (West Side Story), and Anna (Frozen). In 2022, she toured with Maverick City Music alongside artists such as Chandler Moore and Naomi Raine. In December of 2024, she also toured with Phil Wickham & TAYA.
Kristen is so honored to continue vocal directing here at CMT and looks forward to helping aspiring performers grow and build up their confidence as they share their talents to the world.
