FAQ

What is the Mainstage Performance Workshop (MPW)?

The Mainstage Performance Workshop is a new program designed to give an in-person creative performance outlet to our older performers while staying as safe as possible. The cast will be split into stable groups of no more than 12 performers and will rehearse in those pods. Each pod will be in a minimum of 3 production numbers from the Broadway Catalog. The workshop will culminate in an outdoor performance that puts together all of the production numbers we have been working on throughout the 8 weeks.

What do I need for auditions?

After registering you will receive an email with audition instructions.
You will be asked to provide a headshot, resume, and Vocal Audition Video: please sing a cut of a song of your choice (32 bars or around a minute long) that best showcases your talents. There will be no callbacks for this program, so this is your chance to show us what you have!

Where will the MPW rehearse?

We will rehearse outdoors, utilizing our back parking lot and the adjacent parking garage structure.

Will there be any Zoom or online rehearsals?

There will not be any live rehearsals held virtually, however all vocals will be taught via online teaching videos in order to best utilize our time together and also stay as safe as possible. These will be released each week and will be for the performers to learn on their own time.

What happens if it rains or the AQI is high?

If it rains we will move rehearsals to the covered parking structure. If the air quality is too poor to be outside, we will assess the safest possible solution for that week’s rehearsal.

Can I choose who is in my group of 12?

No. The groups will be cast just like ensemble groups in a production – based on the individual’s audition and what numbers they are best suited for.

*All participants are required to sign a Health and Safety Waiver to acknowledge their understanding of the important new practices in place to protect all students and staff members against COVID-19.

Please Note: As mandated by Santa Clara County, youth can only participate in one in-person program at a time. If your performer is already participating in an in-person program elsewhere, they will not be allowed to participate in an in-person program at CMT.

HEALTH & SAFETY

• This program will be rehearsed entirely outdoors

• Clear markers to keep performers 6ft apart
